Pain-Free Strength Coaching for Women in Austin, TX

From Managing Pain to Building Strength

Most women are told that if something hurts, they should stop lifting. At Ninja Physio, pain is not the end of your training story. It is information, and it points somewhere.

If you’ve already been through physical therapy, chiropractic care, massage, or a personal trainer and you’re still dealing with the same ache, you’re not imagining it, and you’re not out of options. Most of the women who come to us are somewhere in their thirties, forties, fifties, or beyond, carrying something that has been there long enough to feel permanent. It usually isn’t.

Dr. Lily Yu, PT, DPT, CSCS is both a Doctor of Physical Therapy and a certified strength and conditioning specialist. That means the person figuring out why you hurt is the same person building the strength that keeps it from coming back. You will learn how to move efficiently, lift safely, and progress with confidence.

Why Pain-Free Training Works

Traditional fitness programs often push through discomfort or ignore warning signs. Over time this creates compensation patterns that lead to recurring injuries. Our approach replaces “no pain, no gain” with “train smart, stay strong.”

Pain-free training means improving the way you move. It focuses on quality, not just quantity. You will gain strength, mobility, and control while reducing strain on joints and connective tissue.

Our Coaching Process

  1. Assessment and Baseline Testing: We start with a full movement evaluation to identify weak links and mobility restrictions.
  2. Customized Strength Plan: Your program targets specific limitations while developing balanced strength through compound lifts and accessory work.
  3. Technique Refinement: We teach proper mechanics for squats, presses, pulls, and carries so that every rep builds stability and confidence.
  4. Progress Tracking and Education: You will learn how to manage training load, recover well, and prevent future pain.

Because Dr. Lily is a licensed physical therapist as well as your coach, every exercise is chosen with your health and performance in mind. You never have to guess what is safe.

Who Benefits Most

  • Women training through shoulder, hip, or back discomfort
  • Women managing a lingering injury who’ve been told to just rest it or stop lifting altogether
  • Active women who want long-term performance without setbacks
  • Women newer to strength training who also have an old injury or chronic ache to work around

Sessions are held privately at Los Campeones Gym in Austin. The environment is supportive, focused, and equipped for every level of lifter.

Results You Can Feel

Clients often begin with hesitation and end up lifting heavier than they thought possible. Some have gone on to avoid surgery they were told was inevitable. Others find aches they’d stopped noticing simply aren’t there anymore. The secret is not extreme effort; it is learning how to move well, recover fully, and let strength work for you instead of against you.

You don’t have to choose between finally feeling better and getting strong. This is where those two things meet.

“I had been dealing with low back and pelvic pain for 2 years. I had difficulty sleeping, was limping, and couldn’t be on my feet for more than a few hours at a time. Had been to several doctors, had MRIs that diagnosed several herniated and degenerating lumbar. I went to 3 different physical therapists, had steroid injections, nothing helped. The specialists told me I would need a spinal fusion. My son took me to Ninja Physio 5 months ago. With their program of dry needling and strength training, I am now 90% pain free and no longer limping! I am regaining my strength and dead lifting 65 lbs, I even joined a gym! Their program is integrated, supportive, and will encourage you through accountability. It works!”

Frequently Asked Questions

Because most of those approaches stop at symptom relief. Here, diagnosis and strength coaching come from the same person, so instead of just calming things down for a while, we find out why the pain keeps returning and build the strength to keep it from coming back.

Not automatically. Pain is information, not a stop sign. If something feels off, your coach adjusts the movement, load, or pattern in real time, instead of pulling you from training entirely.

It helps, and it’s one of the better-supported approaches there is. Progressive resistance training appears as a first-line recommendation in clinical guidelines for persistent musculoskeletal pain, including the low back, hip, and knee. The reasoning is practical: loading tissue gradually builds its capacity to handle work, movements that once felt threatening start feeling ordinary again, and strength supports a joint in a way that rest never will. What matters is how the loading is progressed, which is the part almost nobody can judge accurately on their own.
