Spartacus Dash 2026

A few weekends ago, a group of Ninja Physio clients ran the Spartacus Dash in Belton, TX. Mud, obstacles, heat, the whole thing.

For some of them, it was the first obstacle course race they had ever done. For others, it was the first time in years they had done anything like it. All of them had one thing in common going in: a history of injuries that had stopped them before.

Back pain. Shoulder pain. Knee pain. A torn Achilles. Years of being told to rest, wait, scale back, or stop entirely.

They did not stop. Here is what they were coming back from.

Rita

Rita is a runner and a powerlifter, which means she does not have a lot of patience for being on the sidelines. Over the years she has dealt with back pain, knee pain, and a hip injury that got bad enough that walking to work was a problem. She tried resting it. It got worse. She looked into traditional PT and ran into a wall of referrals, wait times, and hoops she did not have time to jump through. Her marathon and her powerlifting meet were coming up.

She found Ninja Physio through a friend’s post and was seen the same week. No referral, no wait. She started her rehab program immediately and was back in training within weeks. She ran the 10K in Hawaii and competed in her powerlifting meet as planned.

Since then she has hit her heaviest deadlift ever, run her fastest 5K, and finished the Murph with a vest. She’s also completed the Ragnar Relays, Strongman and powerlifting competitions, and now she has added OCR race to her list of accomplishments.

Daniella

Daniella had been at this for a while. Personal trainers, physical therapists, stretching routines, the usual. Every time an injury showed up, whether it was her back or her shoulders, she would have to stop, rehab, and start over. The cycle was exhausting, and her fitness never got to actually go anywhere.

When she came in last year, the goal was to break that cycle. We resolved the injuries, but the more important piece was finding the gaps in her training that had been setting her up for them in the first place. Once those were addressed, her progress took off in a way it had not before.

Since working with Ninja Physio, Daniella got her first pull up, started running again and completed her first OCR race!

John

John came in with a laundry list of injuries: shoulder, back, knee, ankle. He was doing CrossFit but everything hurt, and he had already been through Army physical therapy, chiropractic, and massage without getting where he needed to be. He was still training around injuries instead of past them.

We worked through each one and got him pain-free. After that, his fitness had room to actually grow. He started hitting PRs. He competed in his local CrossFit competition. He did a Spartan Race. He came back and did the Spartacus Dash with this group.

Ray

Ray tore his Achilles. He went through six months of Army PT, made very little progress, and was told somewhere in that process that he would also need a hip replacement.

We worked together for two months.

After two months, he was running and lifting again.

And now, a few years later, he crossed the Spartacus Dash finish line, when doctors told him that he wouldn’t be running again.

The Short Version

None of these people had easy roads. All of them had spent time, money, and energy on approaches that were not working. Most had been given a version of “just manage it” at some point.

What changed was the approach. Passive treatment and extended rest do not fix the things that cause chronic injuries in active people. Load tolerance, strength, and movement quality do. That is what we built, every time.

The Spartacus Dash finish line was not the goal. It was the proof.
